Tree Bat Roost Study

12 February 2015

This month sees the start of a research project being undertaken by HEL to investigate bat roost choice in trees and monitor their use throughout the year, in order to build up a better picture of tree roosting behaviour and ecology.  HEL's team of NPTC qualified and SNH licensed bat specialists will be monitoring a 19 ha. mature semi-natural woodland in Perthshire.  Species present in the area include brown long-eared bat Plecotus auritus, common pipistrelle Pipistrellus pipistrellus, Natterer's bat Myotis nattereris and Daubenton's bat Myotis daubentonii.  For further information on this exciting project contact dave.dowse@heritage-environmental.co.uk
