HEL have been involved with the regeneration of the former steelworks at Ravenscraig, North Lanarkshire for almost 15 years. Ravenscraig represents one of the largest urban regeneration projects in Europe and has a number of on-site ecological sensitivities.
We have provided a range of ecological services to Ravenscraig Ltd., including Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA); preparation of Area Planning Briefs; application for EPS and badger development licences; licensed translocation of great crested newt; licensed exclusions and mitigation for badger; mitigation for Schedule I birds; preparation of biodiversity management plans; habitat creation; and, translocation of notable flora and grayling butterfly.
HEL are currently retained as Ecological Clerk of Works for the project. The role and responsibilities of the ECoW are aimed at ensuring that the development works are planned and carried out in an appropriate manner, in accordance with legislation and planning conditions.
